Megan Bowers and I interviewed John Ellison on Friday in Princeton, WV. John, who grew up in Landgraff, was back in West Virginia for a performance in Bluefield. Ellison talked about his dreams to become a singer/songwriter while growing up very poor in McDowell County. He told us the story about writing the song “Some Kind of Wonderful” on a bus to Philly with the Soul Brothers Six. Great guy with an interesting story.
